Imagine a world without hard work? Do you think we would learn anything? Do you think we would ever grow? Do you think we would ever develop the skills and experiences that we need to succeed in this life?
Last week we talked about a few things, we talked about the importance of having work within our families, the importance of fathers, and the importance of working together as a couple with finances.
First of all, lets talk about fathers.
Fathers are such an important part of a family. There are many different types of families, some unfortunately don’t have a father figure and that is okay. However, studies show that children who grow up without a father figure in their home are more likely to be more violent, get involved with drugs and alcohol and have more problems with depression, etc. Most of all the shootings that have taken place in America, the shooter never had a father figure in their life or had a bad family situation where the father was most often not present.
I asked my mom why she thinks it’s important to have a father in the family and this was her response, she said, “The mother needs the father to help share the burden and all the responsibilities of raising children. The mother provides the nurturing for the family, and the dad provides structure and stability. It is a partnership and it is very hard to do it alone.”
Finances.
When it comes to paying the bills, budgeting and taking care of finances, it should never just be one person. The couple should do this all together. My teacher who has been a marriage and family counselor for the past 30 years told us that one of the main reasons that people usually get a divorce is because they didn’t know how to correctly manage money together.
There are many benefits of managing money as a couple. There will be no blame or fight to where the money is going and as you budget together you will grow, learn and bond at the same time.
Lots of people in the world today think that money is the key to all happiness, and often times, the father/mother end up spending so much time at work because they want more money when they could be spending time at home. We should look at money as something that we need to support our families but we should never focus so much on money that it takes us away from being with our family. We don’t need all the money in the world to be happy, we just need what is sufficient for our needs. That doesn’t mean that success is bad and that being wealthy is a sin, but we just need to always remember whats truly important in this life and instead of focusing just on work, focus on the family and just see work as something to support your family.
Some of my favorite memories as a child didn’t involve any money at all, they were the simple things we did as a family and some of my absolute favorite memories are when me and my family served together.
When we put God first and then our family, the rest will all fall into place!
Work
Lots of times in our lives we see work as something dreadful and we always try to cheat ourselves out of work. What sometimes we don’t realize is that there is so much value in work.
Working together as a family can bring us closer than we imagine, as we work together we are focused on one purpose and we are able to grow together.
Everyone in the family should work, as well as children. Children need work.
If we always deprive our children from work and do things for them, how will they ever learn? Its like a chick, when its born. If you crack open the egg for them, they will die. They need that work and struggle for their survival.
There is so many things that can make a great family, I believe that the key to creating a good family is love, patience, hard work, and most importantly God. Families will never be perfect, but I believe that we can find joy within our familes in the small and simple tings and that all the imperfections and trials can bring us closer together.
